The production Supervisor oversees the activities of all co-workers involved in the manufacturing of cookie products and of the equipment on the shift. There is one Production Supervisor reporting directly to the Production Manager. Each shift consists of up to 3 Lead Persons Machine Operators Packers and a utility person.
In addition to co-worker supervision must control productivity to meet or exceed product output standards while minimizing scrap and conforming to quality standards. Work directly with the Quality Assurance department and assures all factors controlling the automatic process and determining final quality are strictly followed. Take corrective action when periodic case count checks show productivity below established levels determine the cause of the productivity loss excessive scrap product or packaging materials and assign appropriate co-workers to correct any non-conformance.
The production Supervisor prepares daily shift reports detailing production and manning statistics and ensures the mix sheets oven reports and finished goods reports are prepared during the shift and the scrap is reported accurately. Assures that all information recorded on all required documents is accurate and legible.
Trains new plant employees in job duties and plant rules. To assure that production does not suffer during absences or heavy production periods continually cross-train appropriate co-workers so that there is adequate back-up of all positions.
The Production supervisor will make recommendations for procedure modification equipment modifications and man as they relate to the productivity of the facility.
May be called upon for additional duties which relate to his or her area.
Must deal with immediate personnel problems and any first aid requirements on the shift. Must be capable of working with minimal direct supervision and have strong demonstrated leadership interpersonal and self-initiative skills.
Completes and approves routine daily paperwork ensuring proper documentation and company policies are followed in an accurate and timely manner. Assures that all information recorded on all required documents is accurate and legible.
Schedules labor documents/approve employee time and attendance records adjusts daily work schedule as needed to meet production requirements
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
Oversees the production of finished products to meet productivity standards preventing costly negative variance and possible short shipments
Utilizes assigned manpower effectively to meet company manning standards and reduce overtime to keep unit costs as low as possible.
Ensures that all production equipment used on shift is properly maintained to prevent productivity loss excessive scrap and downtime.
Submits accurate and timely production reports.
Assures quality housekeeping and safety standards are met during a shift to prevent losses due to rework rejection or accidents
EDUCATION:
Associates Degree or equivalent work experience
RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
Minimum job content knowledge: At least 4 years of Food Plant experience. American Institute of Baking or other 3rd Party Audit experience. Familiar with Hazardous Materials used in Food Plant. Ability to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets. Ability to understand and operate all production equipment. Excellent oral and written communication skills read and write English fluently ability and willingness to follow Standard Operating Procedures ability to receive written and verbal directions and ability to understand general work processes. Must possess proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software. Recent Supervisory experience of crews with up to 40 co-workers mandatory.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
The ability to work any shift ability to stand or walk for extended periods will require overtime. 95% of shifts will be direct supervision of employees.
Must possess basic mechanical aptitude and be good with numbers. Capable of understanding work instructions and reading notices and work schedules as posted on the Bulletin Board. Mature individual with the ability to effectively communicate with other departments.
