Senior Business Data Analyst

Required Location: Hybrid/Midtown New York City 3 days a week.

Role Summary

We are seeking a Senior Business Data Analyst to work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams across the firm to translate business needs into analytical solutions. This role demands a detail-oriented individual with strong financial services experience and superior communication skills who is comfortable working with large datasets and providing actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with portfolio managers operations and IT teams to gather and define business requirements.
• Design and deliver dashboards reports and models that support strategic business decisions.
• Perform deep-dive analysis of data to uncover trends issues and opportunities for efficiency or growth.
• Translate complex data sets into clear insights for non-technical stakeholders.
• Validate data integrity and troubleshoot inconsistencies across data pipelines and reports.
• Serve as a liaison between business units and technology ensuring alignment between data outputs and business goals.
• Document business requirements data dictionaries and data lineage for core reports and KPIs.
• Support data governance and quality initiatives across business platforms.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years of experience in a data analysis or business analytics role within the financial industry (private equity hedge funds investment management or banking preferred).
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven experience working with large data sets and data visualization tools (Power BI Tableau or similar).
• Advanced proficiency in Excel SQL and at least one scripting language (Python or R preferred).
• Experience working with data warehouses (e.g. Snowflake Redshift BigQuery).
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced highly collaborative environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and data integrity.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a private equity or alternative asset management firm.
• Familiarity with financial and investment-related metrics and terminology.
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum project management methodologies.
