Job Summary

Job Title: Engineering Technician

Client: Heavy Machine Manufacturing Company
Duration: 1 Year (possible extension)
Location: Urbandale IA 50322
Shift: Monday Friday 100% onsite

Overview:

The Engineering Technician II supports system and hardware engineers with prototype builds hardware integration and validation for precision technology products. This hands-on role focuses on electrical hardware modification harness fabrication testing documentation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Read build and rework electrical harnesses and brackets per engineering prints.
Perform fit-up routing and layout validation on prototype or production equipment.
Modify electrical hardware (controllers harnesses mounting equipment) for test builds.
Support PCB rework (through-hole and SMT) and small-scale PCB assembly.
Create sketches and documentation for prototype harnesses/brackets.
Purchase and track components for prototypes and engineering builds.
Maintain and organize experimental hardware inventory.
Provide test data and assist engineers with report preparation and validation feedback.
Develop or support field/lab test procedures and instrumentation setup as required.

Skills & Qualifications:

1 3 years experience in engineering product testing or hardware design support.
Strong understanding of mechanical electrical or hydraulic systems.
PCB soldering/rework experience (through-hole & SMT).
Ability to read electrical schematics harness drawings and mechanical prints.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint Visio Teams.
Experience with 3D printing AutoCAD or mechanical documentation updates.
Familiarity with data acquisition systems and EPDP/ETDP processes preferred.
Technical degree or equivalent apprenticeship (1 2 years).
