One YMCA is seeking a new Night Housing Support Officer at our Supported Accommodation Team in Stevenage where we provide essential housing support to Separated Migrant Children helping them transition from dependence to independence
As a Young Persons Night Support Officer you will be part of a dynamic team providing personal counselling support and enablement to residents with various support needs including mental health issues trauma and life skills. Your role will involve developing individualised support plans conducting risk assessments and actively engaging with residents to maximise the benefits of their stay.
Key Responsibilities
Provide overnight housing support to young people ensuring a safe supportive and welcoming environment.
Work with separated migrant children to help them develop independence resilience and life skills.
Develop and implement individualised support plans tailored to residents needs and aspirations.
Carry out risk assessments and respond appropriately to any safeguarding or welfare concerns.
Offer emotional support and guidance including around issues such as trauma mental health and wellbeing.
Actively engage with residents to encourage positive choices personal growth and community integration.
Maintain accurate records case notes and reports in line with organisational and statutory requirements.
Collaborate with colleagues and external agencies to ensure joined-up support for each young person.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and work collaboratively.
Good organisational skills able to manage multiple tasks while staying calm under pressure.

This position requires flexible shift working in line with the needs of our service users and will include some weekend hours. The rota includes: One week of early shifts (8am4pm) / one week of late shifts (12pm8pm) plus a night shift pattern of three nights on three nights off. Shifts will include some weekends and bank holidays in line with the needs of the service

- Move on accommodation for individuals moving onto independent living
- Housing and practical/emotional support for young asylum seekers
- Community HUBs hosting a range of activities and meeting space hire
- Childcare provision in Hertfordshire
- Family support through a network of childrens and family centres covering Hertfordshire and Bedford
- Therapeutic and non-therapeutic support for male and female victims of domestic abuse and their children
- Independent sexual violence services across Bedfordshire Luton and Hertfordshire
- Domestic abuse perpetrator reform programmes across Bedfordshire
- Youth services offering emotional wellbeing support and youth club opportunities for 11-19 year olds alongside our National Airplay programme funded by the RAF Benevolent Fund
