Job Summary

Overview

The Recreational Activities Staff I is responsible for assisting with the implementation and assessment of a therapeutic intervention. This staff member may assist with research protocols planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate activities. The incumbent provides programming for patients and assists with relevant caregivers training. This position engages patients and siblings while they are in the playroom area of the Psychiatric Mental Health Program (PMHP) during appointments.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide developmentally appropriate activities in the playroom area to support the psychosocial behavioral and cultural needs of the patients and their siblings.
  2. Supervise patients and siblings signed into the playroom area to ensure that rules of safety are followed.
  3. Effectively communicate with caregivers and providers any observation interaction or incident that involve the well-being of the patients or their siblings while in the playroom.
  4. Participate on the programs crisis team in providing safety around clinical care and providing support in assuring staff and patient safety.
  5. Maintain materials and supplies by cleaning toys equipment and playroom environment in accordance with established procedures.
  6. Replenish supplies removes broken or unsafe toys/materials and notifies supervisor of ordering needs and recommends purchases of new materials.
  7. Encourage developmentally appropriate and culturally sensitive interactions between individuals while in the playroom. Models pro-social behaviors.
  8. Maintain professional boundaries with patients family and staff.
  9. Maintain quality and effectiveness of patient services through the implementation of and compliance with all program departmental and Institute policies procedures and performance improvement activities.
  10. Assist administratively as backup for the care centers clinical service coordinators and administrative service coordinators as needed and when not occupied by playroom duties.
  11. Travel between playrooms as needed.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3Two years experience providing care and supervision to children with developmental disabilities is preferred.

Minimum pay range

USD $37132.78/Yr.

Maximum pay range

USD $60215.17/Yr.
