The College of Engineering Facilities and Safety department is dedicated to providing quality facilities that are safe and to positively impact these spaces in which we learn teach and work. Besides maintaining safe facilities we are a department that is dedicated to customer service while achieving the best utilization and response to current and emerging needs.
Position Summary
The Senior Research Machinist is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the College of Engineering (CoE) Machine Shop and is responsible for completing or overseeing the completion of assignments in the construction assembly maintenance and repair of a wide variety of machine parts using tools and equipment that require a high degree of accuracy and precision. The Senior Research Machinist works closely with students faculty and staff to assess their needs in regards to production of various parts and projects and experiments maintaining an efficient workflow in the Shop. Provide oversight of CoE remote machine shops utilized by student organizations maintains a safe working environment assuring all accepted safety standards are met and
maintained.
Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a High School diploma or equivalent and vocational training or an approved apprenticeship program in machine shop operations and 4 Years of position-related experience.
Preferred Qualifications: A highly capable and certified welder with experience in teaching others welding
techniques and safe practices. Possesses some supervisory experience and strong organizational skills. Skilled in
ensuring the safe use of all machine shop equipment identifying unsafe conditions and managing corrective
actions effectively.

4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelors degree.
