Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time tenure-track faculty position (#107180) at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1 2026.

As a Carnegie R2 (Doctoral Universities High Research Activity) institution we seek a scholar with expertise in computational or applied mathematics who will contribute to our vibrant academic community through teaching research and membership excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop a productive externally funded research program.
• Engage undergraduate and graduate students in research.
• Contribute to curriculum development and interdisciplinary collaboration for undergraduate and graduate programs.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences offers a B.S. in Mathematics a B.S. in Actuarial Science and an M.S. in Mathematics. A terminal degree in mathematics applied mathematics computational mathematics or closely related field is required by the appointment date.

• Experience supervising student research.

• Demonstrated potential to secure external funding for research or curriculum development.
