MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelors degree in physical education Health Education or a related field.
- Certification: Valid teaching certification in Physical Education (MB) and Health (MA); or certfication in Health & Physical Education (MC) for middle school levels as required by the state.
- Experience: Previous teaching experience at the middle school level preferred.
- Skills: Strong communication organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to motivate
- and inspire students; knowledge of current health and fitness trends; proficiency in using educational technology.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Curriculum Development and Instruction
- Develop and implement lesson plans that align with state and national standards for physical and health education.
- Teach students a variety of physical activities including team sports individual sports fitness exercises and recreational activities.
- Instruct students on health topics such as nutrition personal health mental health substance abuse prevention and human development.
- Student Assessment and Evaluation
- Assess student performance and progress through various methods including observation fitness tests quizzes and projects.
- Provide regular feedback to students and parents/guardians regarding student progress and areas for improvement.
- Classroom Management
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
- Enforce safety rules and regulations to ensure the well-being of all students during physical activities.
- Professional Development
- Stay current with developments in the fields of physical and health education through professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and develop interdisciplinary lessons and activities.
- Communication and Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with students parents/guardians and colleagues regarding student progress curriculum and upcoming events.
- Participate in school meetings parent-teacher conferences and other school-related activities.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Organize and supervise extracurricular activities such as intramural sports and wellness clubs.
- Maintain equipment and supplies needed for physical and health education classes.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the school administration.
