Job Description
A growing independent insurance agency in The Woodlands TX is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to join their team and help manage their financial operations efficiently. This is a key role with responsibility for ensuring timely broker payments accurate reconciliations and overall financial integrity.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accounting & Bookkeeping: Manage day-to-day accounting operations including journal entries deposits withdrawals and general ledger maintenance.
- Broker Payments: Ensure timely and accurate broker payments and tracking.
- Reconciliations: Perform regular bank and premium reconciliations.
- Direct Bill Commission Tracking: Accurately track and record direct bill commissions.
- Premium Management: Monitor and follow up on missing or outstanding premiums.
- Backlog Cleanup: Tackle a 6-month backlog of accounting records and bring accounts up to date.
- Reporting: Generate and analyze financial and operational reports from Applied EPIC and other sources as needed.
- System Use: Utilize Applied EPIC daily for financial tracking reporting and reconciliation.
- Compliance & Audit: Ensure compliance with internal controls and prepare for potential audits.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience:
- 3 years of accounting experience preferably in an insurance agency setting.
- Applied EPIC experience is required.
- Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work independently.
- Education:
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
COMPENSATION AND SCHEDULE:
- $65000-$75000 based on experience
