About the Role

As a Residential Support Worker your role involves creating a secure and nurturing home environment for Children and Young People who have experienced childhood trauma abuse or neglect. Your responsibilities include delivering personalised support and guidance fostering the development of independent life skills assisting with emotional regulation and providing opportunities for re-engagement in education and community activities.

We are looking for team members with expertise in supporting individuals who may exhibit challenging behaviours such as aggression self-harm drug use and absconding. Successful candidates will have prior experience working with children and young people and possess a comprehensive understanding of childhood trauma and its impacts.

Skills & Experience

• Minimum qualification level - Certificate IV in Youth Work Mental Health or relevant qualification
• Experience working with young people who have experienced significant trauma and neglect including the management of behaviours of concern
• Ability to demonstrate highly effective interpersonal skills with young people and stakeholders
• Demonstrate confidentiality and have strong understanding of professional boundaries
• Experience working with young people from indigenous or other cultural backgrounds
• A current Provide First Aid (HLTAID003 or HLTAID011) & CPR (HLTAID001 or HLTAID009) Certificate/s
• A current Drivers Licence

Additionally experience with behavioural management approaches including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) positive behaviour support trauma and attachment Sanctuary or CARE residential models will be highly regarded

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check Department of Communities Check and Working with Children Check.
