Why You Will Love this Job:

The Engineering Technician V will perform diverse and complex assignments in support of Kohler Home Energy product development and manufacturing. Assignments may include but are not limited to: test set up and testing fabrication assembly of fixtures/equipment set up and running of data acquisition equipment for tests conducting experiments reporting/documenting results of tests.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Works with laboratory management to set technical direction. Mentors and coordinates the work of other technicians.

  • Determines possible solutions to major lab issues and present recommendations to laboratory management.

  • Uses knowledge to suggest improvements to test and analysis methods to enhance information flow.

  • Anticipates and plans group and independent workload. Delegates work to others to meet request deadlines.

  • Drives and encourages innovation in all other lab associates.

  • Set up and perform various tests based on Engineering direction and or written test standards.

  • Set up instrumentation thermocouples various sensors data acquisition systems.

  • Analyze interpret document and communicate test results.

  • Fabricate and assemble prototype devices for tests.

  • Develop new test set-ups and test methods.

  • Perform basic preventive maintenance and 5S of test cells workstation test equipment.

  • Demonstrate technical competency and participate in the continuous improvement process as it relates to your role.

  • Creates protocols for validation of product functions.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of an associate degree from a two-year college or technical school related to Electronics Electrical or electro-mechanical fields

  • Familiar with variety of measurements includes scopes basic electronics mechanical systems transducers thermocouples flow meters

  • Proficiency in understanding and interpret basic written technical information.

  • Demonstrated ability to work well with limited direction and information.

  • Some experience with hardware and software programming a plus.

  • Fabrication experience and use of hand tools.

  • Must have knowledge of electrical/mechanical principles and testing techniques.

  • Troubleshooting skills related to experience in electrical power converters and/or inverters.

  • Ability to lift 40lbs regularly lifting traveling up and down stairs sitting squatting and bending in various positions - traveling in and out of work areas walking and being on your feet for a majority of the workday.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows Word Excel OneNote Teams and PC based test equipment.

  • Able to perform basic electrical engineering calculations and able to interpret results.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers engineering depts. manufacturing.

  • Attention to detail relating to tasks testing and report writing.

  • Ability to provide a strong individual contribution in the context of achieving team goals and deadlines.

  • Ability to provide technical leadership by assisting others in troubleshooting answering questions and determining root cause.

  • 5-10 years experience working in a test environment (preferred)

  • Internal combustion engine and/or alternator experience (preferred)

The Hourly range for this position is $34.30-$ specific Hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidates experience their education and the work location.
