Temporary/Permanent:Temporary Not to Exceed (NTE): June 30 2026 with the possibility of extension pending satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
Duties and Responsibilities (* denotes essential functions):
- *Perform project tasks that promote culturally safe space.
- *Provide day-to-day support in implementing the Scope of Work (SOW) for the Department of Health Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division Hawaii Overdose Initiative Evaluation project.
- *Independently carry out tasks necessary for culturally safe systems and analysis on Hawaiis overdose prevention treatment and recovery resources.
- *Support project activities such as: quantitative analysis of demographic epidemiologic and survey data.
- Review and provide input to principal investigators and staff as needed.
- Contribute to the completion of proposals and reports.
- Attend meetings including but not limited to community County and State level meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Hawaiian and Indigenous Health & Healing Social Work Native Hawaiian Studies Public Health Political Science Psychology Biology Social Science Anthropology or related field and one (1) year of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for quantitative epidemiologic analysis; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.
- Functional knowledge of principles practices and techniques in the area of simple quantitative data analysis (e.g. descriptive data bivariate analyses) preferably in Research demonstrated by knowledge understanding and ability to apply concepts terminology.
- Functional knowledge and understanding of principles theories federal and state laws rules regulations and systems associated with quantitative data analysis and survey data.
- Demonstrated ability to recognize problems identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the area of quantitative data analysis and survey data.
- Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation write reports and procedures and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team members and individuals.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software(e.g. Microsoft Office applications; to include Word Access Excel PowerPoint and Outlook).
Supplemental Minimum Qualifications:
- Familiarity in treatment and prevention of substance misuse and mental health.
- Ability to perform work tasks remotely.
- Familiarity with telework programs such as Zoom Google Suite Microsoft Teams and Slack.
- Be able to work independently and as a team member.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Hawaiian and Indigenous Health & Healing Social Work Native Hawaiian Studies Public Health Political Science Psychology Biology Social Science Anthropology or related field and at least two (2) years of progressively responsible professional experience with quantitative epidemiologic analysis.
- Education and experience in the cultural and geographic setting specific to Hawaii islands.
- Knowledge of Pacific Islands and Oceanic cultural and political history.
- Knowledge of Olelo Hawaii (Hawaiian language).
