Bachelors degree and five years of experience or combination.
Preferred Hiring Qualifications:
Previous TRIO experience is a plus. Preference may be given to those who possess a masters degree and three (3) years of full-time professional experience working with low-income first-generation and/or students with disabilities in higher education nonprofit or community service organizations. Proven ability to collaborate across many programs to increase positive student success outcomes. Knowledge and experience with student and service tracking databases and Banner is preferred. Additional experience with student database management systems such as Student Access and/or Blumen is a plus.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO
The TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) programs are funded by the United States Department of Education. Through specialized services their goal is to increase the retention and graduation rates of college students who demonstrate academic need and are either first-generation low-income or have a documented disability. This goal is based upon the belief that all students regardless of age family background learning style or presence of a disability should have equal opportunity to reach their full personal academic and career potential.
The Assistant Project Director is responsible for assisting in the overall administration of a federally funded post-secondary school recruitment project. Its goal is to increase the retention and graduation rates of low-income first-generation and students with disabilities. This position will be at the Decatur GSU Perimeter College
Examples of Job Responsibilities:
Assist the project director with budget management as well as provide advisement in personal academic career and financial aid
Responsible for research-oriented duties i.e. tracking student success outcomes and research retention strategies etc.
Responsible for managing the assessment development and caseload of program participants
Coordinates and oversees databases used to develop student data reports
Monitors staff workloads to ensure the timely processing of actions
Mentors staff to ensure professional development and advancement opportunities
Assists in hiring training and reviewing the performance of staff
Develops and maintains a strong working relationship with internal and external departments/organizations to increase positive student outcomes
Assist in the data preparation federal reporting and submission of the annual performance report
Performs other duties and special projects as required
A successful candidate should possess the following:
Knowledge and experience of contract and grant regulations budgeting and financial management.
Strong communication interpersonal and organizational skills both oral and written.
Ability to effectively coordinate program services create and conduct presentations and/or facilitate workshops
Ability to lead and functionally supervise staff.
Ability to respect the confidential nature of the position with students.
Familiar with TRIO language such as the legislation regulations and the Super Circular (Edgar and OMB).
Physical Requirements:
The position may require local travel between campuses to perform required duties attend meetings and perform other responsibilities.
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
Requires adequate vision hearing and manual dexterity to interact with people in person on the phone and in writing. The job takes place in normal environmental conditions.
