Patient Services Specialist

Harney District Hospital is seeking a Patient Services Specialist to join their Specialty Care Clinic Team. This position will be a full-time position working four 8-hour days per week. The main responsibility for this position will be to secure referrals or prior-authorizations and schedule patients with specialists or for tests as directed by the medical provider. Required Skills and Abilities:

One year plus experience with referrals and authorizations in a medical office.

Education and Experience:

Previous experience working directly with the public and/or in a medical environment. Knowledge of basic medical terminology and medical coding. Experience communicating with people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. Knowledge of general office practices computer/data entry procedures operation of office equipment use of telephone systems arithmetic spelling English and grammar. General knowledge of confidentiality concepts and requirements. Ability to communicate effectively with public insurance companies and staff both orally and in writing. Equivalent to a high school education and six (6) months related experience or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge skills and abilities to perform the above duties.
