Job Summary
As a Senior Software Engineer of the API team you are responsible for leading Developers in designing implementing and delivering software solutions that helps drive Nearmaps business objectives in a meaningful way to solve real-world problems for our users. You will work closely with the Product team to analyze and design software solutions and help to improve the competency of the development team by championing best practices and assisting and coaching individuals to maximise their potential.
Youll be contributing to a platform that processes petabytes of aerial imagery powers advanced AI models and delivers real-time geospatial insights to customers around the world. From data ingestion and processing to intelligent delivery through APIs and customer-facing applications our systems push the boundaries of performance scale and innovation.
This is a rare opportunity to help shape quality practices across an end-to-end platform spanning high-resolution imagery AI-driven insights and scalable data delivery systems while establishing API projects in our new Warsaw engineering hub. Youll play a key role in ensuring the reliability of systems that are transforming how industries make critical decisions at scale.

Qualifications :
- Strong expertise in backend technologies including Go and/or C#.
- Deep understanding of API design cloud-native architectures (such as microservices containers events) preferably on AWS Kubernetes Terraform CI/CD and observability tooling.
- Experience with distributed storage or content delivery.
- Proven experience leading backend engineering teams delivering scalable production-grade APIs and platform services.
- Demonstrated success in building and maintaining distributed systems and data-access platforms in a cloud environment.
- Empathetic and inclusive leader with strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Proactive pragmatic and committed to high standards of technical excellence.
- Comfortable working across time zones and distributed teams.
- Comfortable making well-informed trade-offs between product delivery timelines requirements and technical constraints
- A bachelors degree or higher in Computer Science Engineering or a related field with a comprehensive understanding of backend development principles software architecture and design patterns
You will:
- Champion the evolution of Nearmaps geospatial data platform including distributed imagery storage AI data pipelines and content delivery optimisation.
- Ensure sub-second latency and high-throughput performance across customer-facing APIs and internal services.
