About the Position
The Accountant Grants & Non-Profit will play a key role in supporting the financial integrity of grant-funded programs and non-profit operations. This position is responsible for analyzing financial processes monitoring fiscal performance performing reconciliations and making recommendations to enhance efficiency and compliance with all applicable requirements.
Essential Functions
- Prepare and monitor accounting entries related to business processes in compliance with federal state and local regulations.
- Assist in designing implementing and maintaining systems and procedures for the receipt and disbursement of funds.
- Perform monthly reconciliations and detailed accounting analysis.
- Participate in audit preparation and review processes.
- Support management with financial reporting and process improvement initiatives.
- Perform additional related accounting or administrative duties assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of budget control methods fiscal policies and financial compliance regulations especially related to Workforce Solutions contracts.
- Proficiency in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Manual for Grants and Contracts (FMGC).
- Experience with MIP Fund Accounting software.
- Ability to interpret and apply complex fiscal policies develop and update procedures and coordinate accounting operations.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel Word and general accounting software; experience with MIP Accounting Software is a plus.
- Excellent analytical organizational and critical-thinking skills with keen attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities; capable of collaborating effectively with program and fiscal teams.
- Strong leadership and customer service mindset.
Education & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field required (additional experience may substitute for degree).
- Minimum 4 years of relevant accounting experience preferably within governmental or workforce development environments.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Valid drivers license and proof of insurance with a good driving record.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
- Requires regular standing sitting bending and walking.
- Work performed primarily in an office environment with occasional travel.
- Flexible hours may be required to meet deadlines or reporting cycles.
