Position Overview:
As aComposites Sales Representative you will play a pivotal role in driving growth and innovation within our Composites distribution business. This position blends materials expertise with customer engagement focusing on high-performance applications inaerospace defense ballistics and other specialized sectors within the composites market. You will serve as a trusted advisor to customers guiding them throughspecification approvals material selection and application development.
Your ability to understand and communicate complex technical requirements will be key to supporting customers and expanding our footprint in advanced composites markets. This role requires a strong sales foundation in advanced markets materials science and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a technical sales consultant and solutions provider supporting customers through specification approvals material qualifications and product integration for composite applications.
- Grow sales by cultivating relationships with engineering procurement and R&D teams to identify opportunities for new composite materials and process solutions.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities in aerospace defense ballistics and other high-performance sectors.
- Collaborate with suppliers technical service and internal teams to deliver tailored composite material solutions that meet demanding performance and regulatory requirements
- Provide technical presentations product demonstrations and application support to drive customer confidence and adoption.
- Monitor industry trends competitive landscape and material innovations to inform strategic sales initiatives.
- Maintain and grow sales revenue and gross profit margin within assigned territory.
- Prepare detailed action plans and schedules to target key accounts and strategic growth areas.
- Communicate effectively across internal departments to ensure alignment on pricing inventory product quality and customer needs.
Expected Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in technical sales materials engineering or product development within thecomposites aerospace or defenseindustries.
- Strong understanding ofadvanced composite materials including carbon fiber aramid thermosets thermoplastics and ballistic-grade reinforcements.
- Familiarity withcomposite material specification and qualification processes(e.g. MIL-STD ASTM NADCAP AS9100).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn internal systems and CRMs.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with a customer-first mindset.
- Valid drivers license and willingness to travel up to 50%.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Business MaterialsEngineeringor a related technical field.
- Experience supportingaerospace OEMs Tier 1 suppliers defense contractors or ballistic protection programs.
- Working knowledge of SAP Sales Cloud or other ERP/order management systems relevant to materials distribution.
- Experience withtechnical documentation proposal development and regulatory compliance.
Location & Travel:
- Primarily remote; candidates should be based between Richmond VA and Washington D.C.
- Travel within assigned territory up to 50% including overnight travel as needed.
Compensation:
- The annual base salary range for this position is $80000 - $100000 plus quarterly sales incentive actual pay will be determined based on factors such as location experience skills and qualifications.
