The Role: Guardian of Online Community Standards
As a German-Speaking Content Moderator you will be on the front lines of digital safety ensuring that user-generated content in the German language complies with established platform policies and community guidelines. You will be responsible for making crucial fast-paced decisions on various types of sensitive content.
Location: On-site in our modern offices in Porto Portugal
Contract Type: Full-time Permanent/Fixed-Term (Details to be discussed)
Key Responsibilities:
- Content Review and Assessment: Meticulously review analyze and evaluate a high volume of user-generated content in German including but not limited to videos images text and audio.
- Policy Enforcement: Accurately and consistently apply complex content guidelines and policies to identify categorize and action inappropriate harmful or illegal material (e.g. hate speech misinformation graphic violence bullying).
- Critical Decision Making: Make informed autonomous and timely decisions regarding content visibility removal or escalation based on established criteria often in ambiguous or context-dependent situations.
- Documentation and Reporting: Accurately log and document moderation decisions and observations in internal systems contributing to a robust record-keeping and quality assurance process.
- Trend Identification: Proactively monitor and identify emerging content trends user behavior patterns or policy gaps and report them to relevant internal teams to enhance safety strategies.
- Quality and KPI Adherence: Consistently meet or exceed individual and team Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for accuracy quality and productivity in a fast-paced environment.
- Continuous Learning: Stay fully up-to-date with evolving content policies guidelines and cultural nuances in the German-speaking digital landscape to ensure effective moderation.
- Data Security: Adhere to strict data privacy and security protocols during all moderation and review activities.
What You Bring to the Team
Essential Requirements (Must-Haves):
- German Language Fluency: Near-native or native level proficiency in German (C1 or C2 level) both written and verbal with a strong understanding of German-speaking cultural nuances and online trends.
- English Proficiency: Advanced level of proficiency in English (B2 level or higher) for internal communication training and policy comprehension within our international team.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to quickly assess interpret complex information and apply detailed guidelines consistently.
- Judgment and Resilience: Sound decision-making skills and a high degree of emotional resilience and maturity to handle sensitive disturbing or potentially offensive content professionally.
- EU Citizenship/Work Permit: You must have EU citizenship or a valid legal right to work in Portugal.
Desirable Qualifications (Good to Have):
- Previous experience in content moderation trust & safety customer support quality assurance or a similar role is a significant plus but is not mandatory.
- A strong affinity for social media platforms and the digital world.
- Basic computer literacy and the ability to navigate multiple systems and software tools quickly.
