The ASU is one of Australias largest and most progressive unions advocating for fairness equity and dignity in the workplace. Our Victorian and Tasmanian Branch is deeply committed to supporting members building strong workplace representation and driving campaigns that improve working lives.
The ASU is an organising union that protects and improves our members working lives. Our union is growing using strategies to bring workers together to collectively stand to improve wages and conditions. Delegate development is central to everything we do as we see this as fundamental to continuing to grow and build power as a union.
Your Impact
As part of a union committed to building power across our industries we seek passionate and dedicated individuals to join our team. Ideal applicants will bring enthusiasm for ASUs values and a strong commitment to activism that advances the rights and conditions of ASU members and all workers across the movement.
As an Educator you will:
- Empower delegates and HSRs to build strong workplace networks and lead collective action.
- Develop and deliver course material to train delegates and HSRs across our industry coverage and throughout Victoria and Tasmania.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of the ASUs training program.
- Assist in upskilling staff to be involved in delegate and HSR development.
- Work with branch staff on major ASU campaigns to provide training and education for delegates involved in those campaigns.
- Ensure compliance with our WorkSafe accountabilities as an accredited training body.
Were seeking someone with:
- A deep commitment to the union movement and social justice.
- A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
- Excellent time management communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in developing and delivering training and education in an adult learning environment.
- Ability to work in a co-operative and consultative manner.
- A solid detailed understanding of the OHS Act (or an ability to rapidly acquire the same).
- A current drivers license and willingness to travel across Victoria and Tasmania from time to time.
