Job Summary

A highly regarded Independent School in Bristol is seeking an imaginative and nurturing Reception Teacher to join its Early Years team on a Full-Time basis from January 2026. This Reception Teacher post is ideal for a teacher who believes in play-led purposeful learning and wants to work in an Independent School environment that combines pastoral warmth with academic ambition. The successful Reception Teacherwill start pre-term planning and handover before January 2026 attend a comprehensive induction in January 2026 and begin teaching from January 2026 as a Full-Time Reception Teacher.

Why this Reception Teacher role The Independent School offers small class sizes specialist EYFS spaces and high staff-to-pupil ratios perfect for a Reception Teacher who wants to give children individual attention. From January 2026 the Reception Teacher will design inviting indoor and outdoor provision lead daily phonics and language sessions and use formative observations to shape next steps. The Reception Teacher will run parent workshops support transition into Year 1 and contribute to the schools pastoral life. This Full-Time Reception Teacherwill also take part in whole-school professional learning from January 2026 and beyond.

Reception Teacher responsibilities: plan high-quality EYFS provision; assess children against the Early Learning Goals; lead phonics and early number; collaborate with teaching assistants and families; contribute to enrichment and safeguarding practice. The Reception Teacher will model excellent adultchild interactions and will be supported by a dedicated mentoring programme starting in January 2026. As a Full-Time Reception Teacher you will benefit from protected planning time and ongoing CPD.

Person specification Reception Teacher: QTS or EYTS experience in Reception settings creative curriculum-making skills excellent communication with families and an ability to nurture curiosity. The Reception Teacher should be ready to begin planning before January 2026 attend induction in January 2026 and be teaching in class from January 2026 as a Full-Time Reception Teacher.
