Legal Assistant Wills & Estates
Location: Kamloops BC
Our client a well-established law firm in the interior of British Columbia is seeking a full-time Legal Assistant to support its Wills and Estates practice group. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of relevant experience in a legal assistant role preferably within Wills & Estates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general administrative duties including drafting correspondence managing electronic and paper filing systems docket entry account preparation photocopying scanning faxing and courier arrangements.
- Draft and prepare legal documents such as wills enduring powers of attorney and personal directives.
- Prepare applications for grants of probate and administration of estate files.
- Assist with trust administration and maintain bring-forward systems with appropriate reminders.
- Prepare estate planning documentation including wills (primary and supplementary) powers of attorney affidavits of execution insurance declarations letters and reports.
- Support with charitable registrations family trusts and incorporations.
- Communicate with internal and external parties regarding file management.
- Collaborate with other lawyers and staff within the Wills and Estates group as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 13 years of experience in Wills & Estates is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and time management.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional courteous and client-focused demeanor.
- Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Compensation:
- Salary range: $50000 $60000(commensurate with experience)
