Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Ensure setup of the mine scheduling software is adequate to cater for the required detail for various stakeholders.
- Ensure terms of reference adequate for inputs into week plans liaise with different stakeholders to ensure to ensure all assumptions are covered.
- Liaise with MAD engineers on design/tactics and execution inputs
- Use and ensure latest information such as geology design blasting blocks for the setup of the mine scheduling models.
- Do scenario runs with mine scheduling software to deliver the required production plan tonnages quality safety requirements aligned with 12-week plan.
- Consider blending ore flow (crushing and stockpiling) of different material types from 3-month plan.
- Identify and recommend opportunities to improve the short-term planning processes to minimize changes and maximize stability
- Create plans in accordance to the Mine Health and Safety Act and the Mines regulations that are within budget and directs mine production activities to achieve short-term targets.
- Partake in reconciliation processes.
- Undertake tasks as assigned pertaining to the implementation of the Anglo Operating Model in Operational Mine Planning
- Implement a purpose-driven high-performing culture that is aligned with the company values is inclusive and promotes diversity supports engagement and fosters continuous improvement to work processes.
- Ensure compliance to Anglo American internal and external compliance (legislative regulatory permitting) requirements.
This role is at a Band 6 level reporting to the Section Manager Planning.
Qualifications :
- A relevant National Diploma in Mining or Degree in . Mining/ . Mining
- Deswik Packages and Other mine planning software will be advantageous
Experience Knowledge and Skills
- 3- 5 years operational experience in mining or similar industry
- 3-5 years experience in mine planning
- Demonstrable understanding of the intricacies and interdependencies involved in mine planning (inter discipline mining operations)
- Computer literacy and proficiency in mine scheduling and design software such as Deswik is a prerequisite
- Proficient skill and ability to obtain information from relevant sources & liaison with other disciplines (Survey Rock Engineer etc)
- Proficient skills in relating the outputs of the mine plans with financial implications
- Proficient skills in mine planning systems
- Proficient skills in reporting skills
