Job Summary:
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse in a long-term care facility. Responsibilities include assisting patients with daily living activities collecting patient data and maintaining a clean and safe environment. The CNA also performs clerical and communication duties to support the efficient functioning of the department.
Location:Seward Alaska United States
Responsibilities:
- Assists patients with activities of daily living including range of motion exercises ambulation positioning and skin care.
- Distributes linen and changes bed as needed.
- Assists with feeding and meal delivery.
- Assists with routine hygiene care including toileting incontinent care and oral/personal hygiene.
- Collects urine stool and sputum specimens and processes them as needed.
- Obtains and records weights vital signs (including pulse oximetry) pain assessments and I&O.
- Communicates patient status and reports changes in patient condition to licensed professionals.
- Performs incentive spirometry.
- Transports patients and prepares them for diagnostic tests.
- Assists rehab therapists.
- Sets up oxygen therapy and performs pulse oximetry.
- Prepares rooms for admission and discharge.
- Assists nurses in emergency situations.
- Maintains and cleans equipment.
- Performs oral and nasopharyngeal suctioning.
- Performs blood sugar finger sticks.
- Removes IV catheters per licensed nurse instruction.
- Performs EKGs (department specific).
- Answers unit phones and directs calls accordingly.
- Enters data into electronic medical database systems and documents patient care appropriately.
- Performs selected patient registration activities.
- Coordinates equipment/supply needs and reports equipment malfunctions.
- Performs other related clerical and technical duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- CNA license
- AHA BLS Provider CPR certification
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Previous travel experience
Special Considerations:
- Must be willing to work at least 2 of the 3 major Winter holidays (Thanksgiving Christmas New Years).
- Must be willing to float within scope to meet facility needs.
- Facility will arrange for a vehicle for traveler to use while on assignment.
- No more than 2 weeks of RTO will be considered for a 26 Week Contract.
Scheduling:
- 4x12 Variable (or 3x12 Variable - travelers choice)
- Shifts will be either Days or Nights but dependent on facility needs at time of start date.
- Guaranteed Hours: 60 Hours per 2 weeks.
- Traveler can be called off for 1 12-hour shift per 2 weeks.
