Job Summary

Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering the Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for leading the identification and implementation of cost savings opportunities throughout the business. Additionally this role is responsible for establishing and fostering a continuous improvement culture throughout the company. This position is also responsible for the Continuous Improvement Teams overall performance and has managerial responsibilities including employee development employee performance process documentation department metrics and company policy enforcement.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities (THE WHAT)

Analyze manufacturing processes and product designs to identify cost savings opportunities.

Create and manage a pipeline of continuous improvement opportunities.

Implement improvements that lead to increased efficiency cost reduction and increased productivity.

Achieve annual continuous improvement cost savings targets.

Monitor improvements after implementation to ensure long-term success.

Develop and maintain continuous improvement metrics to track results.

Report continuous improvement metrics to stakeholders and management.

Promote a culture of continuous improvement throughout the company.

Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineering Quality Finance and other areas of business.

Lead and manage the Continuous Improvement team to ensure work is completed accurately and on time.

Set team goals and priorities review resource requirements and monitor workloads.

Evaluate develop improve and document the processes the Continuous Improvement team uses to complete their work.

Develop and manage the Continuous Improvement department budget.

Required Skills

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience leading engineering or technical teams.
  • At least 5 years experience in the design or manufacturing of sheet metal fabrications.
  • Strong project management skills and experience.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor develop and hold team members accountable.
  • Must be able to accomplish work through other people and other functional departments.
  • Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma principles.
  • Working knowledge of business enterprise software (ERP). Experience with IFS Applications preferred.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software. Creo or SolidWorks preferred.
  • Solid PC and software capabilities including experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication organizational record-keeping follow-through and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to concurrently manage multiple projects under time restrictions with accurate and complete results.
  • High levels of understanding and respect for other company functions and the ability to work collaboratively and productively with them.
  • Understanding of Spacesaver business processes and capabilities preferred.
  • Travel up to 15% of the time.
