Description
Summary of Position
Performs and documents preventative and corrective maintenance of sanitary sewer collection assets such as but not limited to lift stations force mains gravity mains and manholes.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
1. Operates Department service vehicles including jet truck CCTV truck crane truck and forklift
2. Completes repair and/or replacement of electrical and mechanical components at SSA physical assets
3. Conducts inspections of new sewer lines and completes inspection forms
4. Operates miscellaneous equipment/tools to maintain SSA assets such as but not limited to portable generator cutting torch jack hammer portable pumps and hoses
5. Performs routine maintenance on department fleet vehicles
6. Electronically documents departmental activities such as maintenance records work orders safety training and alarm notifications
7. On rotational basis provides after hours coverage for alarm notifications and customer service issues (per the MOU between Madison County IL and AFSCME Council 31 for and on behalf of Local 797 regarding employee availability to respond 24 hours seven days per week to emergencies related to the sewer system in a fair and equitable manner)
8. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent with additional training in electrical and maintenance and three (3) years related experience are required. A CDL must be obtained within ninety (90) days and must be maintained.
Physical Attributes/Demands
Successful candidates will have the following physical requirements:
The ability to walk or stand up to eight hours or more on a regular basis with scheduled lunches and breaks
Lift up to 20lbs regularly up to 50lbs intermittently and up to 100lbs occasionally without help
Have vision correctable to 20/20
Have the ability to grasp and hold tools in either of 2 hands
Hearing correctable to normal range and amplitude
