Work Arrangement:

Onsite. This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis

Introduction

Be a part of the team bringing new luxury innovative vehicles and propulsion componentry to market. The GM Spring Hill Manufacturing site is a flexible Vehicle Assembly and Global Propulsion Systems plant that sits on 2100 acres. 700 acres are dedicated to farming and 100 acres are dedicated to inhabiting wildlife wetlands and native grasses.

We produce award winning luxury SUVs including the Electric Cadillac Vistiq & Lyriq the Cadillac XT5 & XT6 and other future models soon to hit the market. Our site houses a stamping facility body shop paint shop and a polymer injection molding operation battery pack assembly powertrain machining and engine assembly.

The Role:

The GM Spring Hill Quality Engineering Team is looking for a talented and self-driven individual to fill the Sr. Quality Engineer role in our Vehicle Assembly plant. This posting covers an opening for 3 potential commodity sets: Interior Exterior and Chassis components.

Here every day work is performed in a team dynamic embedded in a plant environment where a considerable amount of creativity and initiative is exercised as well as a high level of independent judgment. The selected Quality Engineer will apply their expertise in focused areas which may include Body Systems Exterior Interior & Chassis components Electrical systems and Supplier Action Center (SAC) containments. Our team will directly contribute to providing our customers with optimal responsiveness and Engineering assessment.

What Youll Do:

Independent Judgement

• Respond to daily project requests and prioritize work
• Managing complex and ambiguous tasks with minimal input from supervisor
• Manage emerging issues on owned commodities
• Develop quality standards and procedures
• Review nonconforming parts and sub-assemblies for proper initial disposition and root cause
• Analyze data to make educated decisions
• Successfully manage multiple projects with broad scope and varying degrees of difficulty

Critical Thinking

• Lead root-cause analysis and develop and implement corrective action plans
• Apply the Red X Methodology and other applicable tools
• Present to Site Leaders with clear problem definition technical guidance on complex problems and regular updates on progress
• Fix supplier quality and engineering issues impacting Global Customer Audit (GCA) Direct Run Rate (DRR) Warranty and Compass

Collaboration

• Work with production floor product engineering supplier-quality engineering or manufacturing engineering to resolve issues
• Assist production in preventing defects and recommend process improvements
• Collaborate with suppliers to address SPPSs (Supplier Practical Problem Solving) issued and ensure robust corrective action
• Support Launch of new products in the plant when applicable.
• Support off-shift(s) and weekend production as required
• Share Lessons Learned with Engineering to prevent repeat design or build issues
• Coordinate periodic system and process audits at the plant and supplier facilities
• Coordinate engineering change implementation and assist in running PTRs (Production Trial Runs)
• Support execution of all GMS (Global Manufacturing System) requirements
• Visit supplier sites to ensure they are up to our standards or are putting in robust issue countermeasures

Your Skills & Abilities:

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent related experience
• 5 years of professional experience
• Ability to read drawings understand GD&T and work with 3D Visualization Software
• Knowledge of PPQP APQP and PPAP requirements
• Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Statistical Data Analysis
• Strong critical thinking independent judgement and interpersonal skills
• Effective communicator with solid oral and written presentation skills

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge:

• Familiarity with Plant Quality systems/applications including GSIP and GEPICS
• Familiarity with Engineering & Supplier Quality systems/applications including ECM PRTS SPPS GQTS TeamCenter and PADs
• Familiarity with Engineering Change Management including ECRs TCRs and parts release processes
• Supplier audit experience
• Red X Journeyman Certification and/or DFSS Green Belt Certification
• Previous experience as a Quality Engineer Supplier Quality Engineer Process Engineer Design Engineer and/or Reliability Engineer
