Job Summary

We need a Signal Systems Electrician who is skilled and pays attention to detail to install maintain fix and check complex electrical and electronic signal systems. The best person for the job will be in charge of making sure that railway transit or traffic control signal equipment works safely and efficiently. To do this job you need to know a lot about electrical circuits wiring diagrams and safety rules in the industry.

Duties:

Set up check fix and keep up electrical and electronic signal systems like relays switches sensors controllers and interlocking devices.

Fix problems with signal systems quickly and correctly.

Do system upgrades and preventive maintenance to make sure everything works as well as possible and is reliable.

Follow the rules and guidelines set by the manufacturer and the government when testing and calibrating signalling equipment.

Read and understand technical manuals wiring diagrams blueprints and schematics.

Follow all safety rules and regulations when installing or fixing something.

Keep accurate and timely records of maintenance repairs and inspections.

Work with engineers supervisors and other technical staff on system projects.

As needed respond to emergency calls and system failures even on weekends and nights.

Keep up with new technologies and take part in ongoing training.

Requirements:

You need a high school diploma or GED. A technical certification or associates degree in electrical technology or a related field is preferred.

At least two years of experience as an electrician with experience working on signal systems in rail transit or traffic settings preferred.

A valid electricians licence (if needed) and a clean driving record.

Being able to use electrical testing tools and hand tools well.

A lot of experience with safety rules local building codes and the National Electrical Code (NEC).

Ability to work alone and with others often in dangerous and outdoor settings.

Great at solving problems and keeping things in order.

The ability to lift heavy equipment climb poles or ladders and work in tight spaces.

Willingness to work odd hours such as nights weekends and holidays when the job needs it.

Pay is competitive between $30 and $45 per hour depending on experience and location.
