Job Summary
Assists surgeons and nursing personnel in the OR. Adheres to unit aseptic standards. Assembles necessary supplies for the surgical procedures. Assists the surgical team by passing instruments and related items as needed. Assists in sterile processing department as needed.
Education and Formal Training: High School diploma or equivalent. LPN CNA EMT or Medical Assistants may apply. Graduate from an accredited surgical tech program is desired. Will have current CPR certification or obtain within 30 days of hire date.
Work Experience: Graduate from accredited Surgical tech program <1 year experience with certificate.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required: Needs to be willing to learn and perform different procedures. Also needs to have excellent communication skills to work directly with nurses anesthesia and physicians. Willingness to learn sterile technique instruments and correct passing techniques. Needs to also be willing to learn different equipment and knowledge to operate that equipment. Must demonstrate an ability to respond to changing workloads and to perform in an accurate and precise manner in crisis and emergency situations when time is critical. Must demonstrate an even temperament tact sensitivity sound judgment and a professional attitude. Must insure that all contracts with patients the public physicians and other hospital personnel are carried out in a friendly courteous and considerate manner.
