Job Summary
Position Summary
This work is performing landscape maintenance duties including but not restricted to litter removal mowing edging weed eating tree trimming plan bed maintenance irrigation maintenance and landscape pest control. OTHER REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION : This position is considered an essential personnel position and must be available to respond to campus emergencies after normal business hours and during campus closures. The employee may be assigned to the emergency team that remains on campus and or evacuates to an off-site location during emergency events. Must have a current drivers license. Knowledge of landscape maintenance techniques. Knowledge of general cleaning techniques. Knowledge of the installation maintenance and repair of complete landscape irrigation systems Knowledge of all methods procedures precautions laws and rights applicable to the safe handling mixing applying storage disposal and documentation of use of pesticides. Skilled in safely and effectively operating riding equipment (mowers and floor scrubbers) Skilled in using supplemental landscape maintenance equipment such as power edgers blowers power hedge trimmers and the like. Skilled in the handling mixing applying storage disposal and documentation of pesticide use. Ability to use hand tools such as rakes shovels lopping shears pole saws and the like for landscape maintenance. Ability to use power and non-power hand tools and equipment properly. Ability to lift and carry loads of 50 pounds or more (i.e. bags of fertilizer grass seed asphalt patch sod etc.) and to push or pull small equipment such as walk-behind edgers mowers and blowers. Ability to walk long distances on level and unleveled terrain while using equipment. Ability to get on and off riding mowers tractors sweepers riding scrubbers and other similar equipment quickly and with ease in case of an emergency. Ability to understand LSU - HSC rules regulations policies and procedures. Ability to communicate information effectively in English verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and within extreme temperature ranges. Visual ability corrected to observe people and/or vehicles moving through the work area in order to redirect work or equipment to avoid injuries to the people or damage to the vehicles.
