Summary:
The intern pharmacist would assist the full-time pharmacy staff during times of pharmacist PTO as an intern may perform many of the functions of a pharmacist while under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
Responsibilities:
1. Filling prescriptions.
2. Patient counseling.
3. Answering patient inquiries.
4. Answering drug information requests from providers.
5. Obtaining prior authorizations.
6. Consulting prescribers about prescription problems.
7. Ensuring proper billing of prescriptions.
8. Performing medication therapy management.
9. Maintaining drug inventory.
10. Ensuring compliance with state and federal laws.
11. Ordering medications from wholesalers.
12. Consulting drug references for information.
Other Information:
Previous retail pharmacy experience helpful.
Working Conditions:
Manual: Some manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity
Occupational: Some occupational risk
Physical Effort: Medium to Heavy effort. May exert up to 35 lbs. force
Physical Environment: Generally pleasant working conditions
