This is an opportunity to participate in a multifaceted and outstanding engineering group at one of the worlds leading companies. Candidates will have the opportunity to work on highly technical topics related to some of Apples latest products in power particular the role includes participation in the design simulation testing and analysis of current and future wireless power products. The role requires broad knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) modeling of the magnetic field in addition to thermal simulation and heat transfer. The candidate should have basic knowledge of the physics of magnetic materials Maxwells equations heat transfer theory and finite element analysis. This is a unique opportunity in designing inductive power links with mass production intent. Candidates with a creative attitude and who are eager to undertake new challenges will find this role especially fulfilling.
- Background in electromagnetics and a sound facility with Maxwells equations
- Experience with COMSOL and/or Maxwell FEA simulation tools
- Familiarity in creating multi-physics models to help predict electrical and thermal performance as it relates to wireless charging
- BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience
- Familiarity with common lab equipment and measurement techniques including network analyzers LCR meter power supply/amplifiers oscilloscopes etc.
- Familiarity with thermal simulation software such as Flotherm/Icepak/Abaqus/COMSOL Multiphysics
- Experience in creating mathematical computational and numerical models for reduced order and more complex thermal analysis
- Familiarity with characterizations for thermal validation and troubleshooting
- Experience with transformer theory and modeling
- Understanding of physics of magnetic materials
- Working knowledge in heat transfer
- M.S. 3 yrs experience or Ph.D. (preferred) in material science or power electronics (ECE) program or related area (e.g. engineering physics)
