This thesis work is within the area of Propulsion NVH at Vehicle Attributes.
Grounding cables i.e. for the high voltage cables in BEVs have proven to cause noise issues i.e. if they mechanically short-circuit the rubber mounts so that structure-borne sound is being transmitted easily between the electric motor and the car body.
Objective:
The main goal of this project is to gain more knowledge in cable design and vibration transfer. More specifically how do properties such as the length diameter strand type curvature and the eyelid/connector influence the vibration transfer over the cable The outcome of this work should result in design guidelines for grounding cables with respect to noise vibration and harshness (NVH).
The focus of this work should be on physical testing where the vibration transfer of different cable types can be carried out in a controlled setup i.e. a test bench where modifications to the cables can be carried out. The transfer acceleration as a function of frequency is the key metric to be studied. Secondly simulations of different cables that have been tested can be carried out to gain modelling knowledge.
Required: Knowledge in acoustic measurements analyses and structural dynamics. Self-standing curious and fast learner.
Tentative proposed thesis work period: 19th January 2026 to 26th of June 2026 (dates can be flexible with /- 7 days)
