PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Network Analyst eliminates obstacles that prevent teachers school leaders and departmental staff from focusing on instruction and the work that supports instruction every day. The Network Analyst accomplishes this by delivering a scalable flexible and reliable infrastructure that includes a highly functioning and impenetrable network. Specifically the Network Analyst achieves network and infrastructure excellence throughout the district with emphasis in the following areas: network design and development network configuration and installation network reliability and network safety.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Associates Degree in Information Technology Computer Science or related field required
Bachelors Degree in Information Technology Computer Science or related field preferred
Masters Degree in Information Technology Computer Science or related field preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Understanding of network troubleshooting methods.
Knowledge of configuring deploying and monitoring networks.
Experience with customer service in a technical environment.
Willing to work irregular hours during the week and weekends to execute projects and/or support users.
Experience:
Three (3) years of experience in network administration or unified management endpoint solutions configuration and/or support required
Working Days:226
Daily Rate pay range:
Minimum: $ 295.86
Maximum: $412.78
Note:Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each persons job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Assists and supports the design development testing and modification of the overall district network architecture systems and services.
- Monitors systems and services for maximum performance uptime proactive alerting and event logging.
- Assists in troubleshooting to resolve network server or service issues including but not limited to internet access LAN/WAN connectivity email DNS DHCP and operating system issues.
- Conducts research determines defines and recommends network changes to the Network Coordinator.
- Installs configures tests and implements systems services and networks to support district network functions. Examples include but are not limited to Microsoft server software Microsoft products (Exchange SharePoint File print etc.) Microsoft System Center Group Policies security cameras video streaming Linux systems Voice over IP wireless technologies and backup replication and disaster recovery plans.
- Review and update existing network documentation and create new documentation as needed.
- Assists in the analyzing and testing of databases systems programs and applications as required.
- Installs and configures servers to communicate on the district network using various server platforms such as Microsoft Windows.
- Assists with the overall security of the district including internet network and application security.
- Assist in developing implementing and maintaining VMware NSX or other virtualization solutions to enhance security performance and micro segmentation.
- Responsible for all district backups including virtual server environment physical servers and any network storage hardware.
- Coordinates and schedules downtime with district staff for updates and/or upgrades of services and systems.
- Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.
- Perform other duties assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).
