Spring 2026 Co-op, Expansion Planning Engineer (Undergraduate|Graduate)

What Youll Do:

As our Expansion Planning Engineer Co-op youll take on impactful projects that sharpen your technical skills and expand your career opportunities. Youll help analyze and model scenarios that guide MISOs long-term planning from integrating large loads to developing weather-dependent planning strategies.

Youll gain hands-on experience with:

• Power system modeling tools such as PSSE EMS and Python
• Real-world projects like large load integration and weather-driven planning scenarios
• Cross-functional collaboration connecting your work to MISOs broader system reliability mission

Working alongside your manager mentor and a cross-departmental buddy to analyze future system needs develop planning scenarios and contribute directly to studies that influence grid expansion decisions. Academic Level: Undergraduate (Juniors or Seniors) or Graduate
Degree: Electrical Engineering

Required Technical Skills

• Completion of core engineering coursework such as circuits and power systems
• Exposure to or interest in Python PSSE EMS or other modeling systems

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with system planning or modeling coursework/projects
• Interest in grid reliability and long-term system planning
