The Clinical Care Director (CCD) promotes enhances and supports the spiritual mental and emotional health of Salvation Army officers (pastors) and their families. The CCD counsels and guides officers connecting them with resources information testing and professional services to ensure that they have what they need to thrive.
This position requires approximately 35 hours of work per week and is eligible for a remote work arrangement.
Responsibilities
- Provide arrange and/or make suggestions regarding the testing and counseling of officers officer couples and/or their families whether by request of the officer or administration.
- Confirm counseling arrangements with our insurance company (Chesterfield Resources) consistent with departmental guidelines. Review requests for additional counseling sessions.
- Guide support and/or arrange testing and services for officers children with special needs as needed. Review all applications for private schooling tutoring and homeschooling involving children with special needs ensuring that proper assessments have been conducted and documented.
- Request and review all psychological testing administered to officers offering a report to both the officer and Salvation Army administration when applicable.
- Give oversight to the participation officers in opportunities such as the Personal Development Retreats (in partnership with Campion Barrow and Associates) the Officer Support Program (in partnership with the Lanier Practice) marriage enrichment events premarital counseling and more.
- Establish clear guidelines regarding the limits of confidentiality both by law and within The Salvation Army. Ensure that these guidelines are distributed and understood by the Pastoral Care Department staff and the officers throughout the territory. Maintain confidentiality within these limits. Secure private information.
- Create gather and share resources to educate and support officers and their families about issues related to their emotional and mental wellbeing. Prepare presentations on these topics upon request.
- Support and assist the Pastoral Care Secretary as needed with the pastoral care program for the territory. Provide guidance resources and training for the Pastoral Care Officers/Pastoral Caregivers.
- Keep the Pastoral Care Secretary informed about the progress of officers in cases involving the officers appointment (Officer Review Board).
- Stay informed about changes in the mental health field. Maintain licensure through continuing education.
- Maintain a working knowledge of Salvation Army policies and procedures relative to this role.
- Prepare a comprehensive brief concerning operational systems projects and other pertinent data to ensure continuity of the work of this office in the event of emergency to be updated and shared with the Pastoral Care Secretary in conjunction with annual review.
Qualifications
- Masters degree
- 10 years of related experience
- License that allows for independent clinical practice in mental health professional counseling social work marriage and family therapy psychology or related field.
- Advanced training and professional certifications within the mental health field are preferred.
- Some travel required; drivers license needed
