DescriptionDo you enjoy driving helping others and making a real difference in your community Were seeking a Driver/Handyperson to join our team supporting children in care and keeping our service running safely and efficiently.
In this role youll be responsible for driving allocated vehicles safely transporting service users between their homes and departmental establishments. Youll have direct responsibility for the wellbeing of service users while on the move and will also assist with general maintenance duties as directed by the Buildings Coordinator.
Well support you to complete Driver CPC training and assessment to obtain a Category D1 licence within a set timeframe. Once qualified youll be able to drive vehicles with up to 16 passenger seats up to 8 metres in length and tow trailers up to 750kg.
The people we are looking for in this vital position will:
Hold a full UK driving licence including D1 category or willingness to complete Driver CPC training and assessment.
The individual must be aged 23 or over and have held a full driving licence for at least 3 years without a fault claim or conviction.
Level 2 Property Maintenance qualification or willingness to complete Property.
Maintenance Operative (Level 2)apprenticeship which will be funded by the Council.
Have general repair experience and able to undertake minor redecoration tasks.
Ability to converse at ease with children and staff and provide advice in accurate spoken English.
Geographical knowledge of the county.
Ability to plan prioritise and use initiative with handyperson tasks working unsupervised with experience of using DIY tools.
As a driver/handyperson your consistent presence and support will help children who may have experienced trauma feel safe valued and can positively impact their emotional and social development.
