The Mechanical Engineering department leads in the mechanical hardware design development and production of weapons systems. We use state-of-the-art tools processes and technology with capabilities encompassing a broad range of technical disciplines including product engineering manufacturing technical services materials engineering analysis and test rapid hardware development/builds and configuration and data management documentation.

The Mechanical Products Team is seeking a CAD Design Engineer in the Shipboard Effectors Department.

The position is located on-site in Tucson AZ

What You Will Do:

The candidate will design major components or major portions of functional systems technically advanced prototypes and specific products using computer design and engineering systems.

• Develops or improves products test equipment or manufacturing processes. Develops data and makes parametric models layouts sketches and notes for design proposals.

• Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture availability of materials interchangeability replaceability strength-weight efficiency and contractual specification requirements and cost.

• Designs develops and tests metallic or non-metallic structures or materials and their related fabrication processes for use in engineering designs.

• They will solve routine problems of varying scope and complexity following established policies and procedures with minimal direction or supervision.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires a Bachelors degree or in absence of a degree an additional 2 years of experience is required.

• 2 years of experience with CREO Parametric (Pro/Engineer) solid modeling CAD software or similar (SolidWorks CATIA Inventor)

• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Understanding of basic principles theories and concepts for creation and preparation of engineering design documentation

• Technical knowledge sufficient to perform tasks such as preparation/changes to drawings/models and create new 3D models and drawings with general direction

• Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) including simple tolerance analysis

• Interpret apply and make decisions regarding the application of documentation specification such as MIL-STD-31000 Y14.5M ASME Y14.24 and ASME Y14.100

• Knowledge of mechanical fabrication processes and techniques

The salary range for this role is 66000 USD - 130000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.
