Job Summary

Xavier University is seeking applications for a 9-month Teaching Professor (non-tenure track) position in the Department of Counseling to begin August 2026. The department has 9 full-time faculty members and offers a CACREP-accredited MA in School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling characterized by a community engagement experiential learning and social justice focus. We aim to educate students who are ethical multiculturally focused and desiring a transformative learning experience. Successful candidates for this position must have at least two years of experience working as a school counselor in a K-12 educational setting and a doctorate in counseling or counselor education. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach advise and mentor students in the MA counseling programs particularly students enrolled in the school counseling program
  • Actively contribute to the continuous development and assessment of the overall school counseling program
  • Assist with coordination of field experience for school counseling students
  • Maintain current relationships with school districts and community partners and work with The Office of the Graduate School to contribute to recruitment efforts on behalf of the school counseling program
  • Provide service outreach engagement and leadership in the Department and College

Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited university (preferred)
  • Experience as a school counselor in K-12 schools (min. 2 years)
  • Knowledge of the ASCA model
  • Teaching experience at the university level
  • Eligibility for licensure in Ohio as a professional school counselor
  • Commitment to helping counseling students develop culturally responsive counseling skills that demonstrate awareness of diversity and social justice issues relevant to professional school counseling
  • Involvement in professional counseling-related organizations
