Burlington School District is seeking a caring and experienced Licensed Nurse Assistant (LNA) to work 1:1 with a student who has medically complex needs. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills excellent communication abilities and a compassionate approach to care. The district is seeking someone who can provide consistent individualized support to help ensure the students safety comfort and access to learning throughout the school day. Flexibility reliability and a collaborative mindset are essential to supporting both the student and the educational team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide student direct care and implementation of an individualized health care plan;
- Collaborate with program personnel to create the best learning environment regardless of individuals health care needs;
- Assist in implementing accommodations for physical and social-emotional support;
- Assist in ambulation and transfers (including lifts)
- Monitor vital signs;
- Apply current professional knowledge regarding following conditions: Dystonia seizures oropharynx suctioning; O2 therapy;
- Administer care as written in students individualized care plan as ordered by physician;
- Communicate daily with various members of the district team: administration faculty School Nurse staff parents students and colleagues;
- Administer individual care in accordance with school policy/procedures.;
- Assist individual with daily living activities e.g.: lunch bus transportation personal care toileting;
- Emergency evacuation assistance
- Document in a thorough manner - utilizing an electronic database (SNAP experience preferred);
- Attend meetings IEP meetings as needed;
- Perform other services per job description and as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience with pediatric intensive special needs is preferred;
- Current and valid VT LNA License;
- Current and valid CPR/AED certification;
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner;
- Ability to remain calm in emergency situations;
- Excellent health assessment skills required;
- At least 2 years of relevant LNA experience (preferred).
