The Department of Labour Skills and Immigration works to provide fairness safety and prosperity for all Nova Scotians by helping them live learn and work to their highest potential. We have a staff of more than 500 employees working from offices throughout Nova Scotia. Together we are responsible for workplace safety fire safety pensions apprenticeship adult education and many other facets of everyday life.
The Technical Safety Division plays a vital role in ensuring public and workplace safety across Nova Scotia. Our mandate is to oversee the safe installation and operation of regulated equipment and systems. This position contributes directly to that mandate through engineering expertise and regulatory support.
Reporting to the Director of Compliance and Inspection the Technical Safety Engineer will contribute to a range of safety-related programs and initiatives within the Safety Branch. With a focused discipline in electrical engineering this role offers an excellent opportunity for a developing engineer to build their career while making a meaningful impact. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chief Electrical Inspector under the Pathways to Compliance model providing expert guidance to help ensure electrical systems and installations meet provincial safety standards and regulatory requirements.

This is a TERM employment opportunity with anticipated end date of October 27 2027. The appointment status (term temporary or casual) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.
Pay Grade: PR 08- PR 15
Salary Range: $2084.99- $3364.90Bi-Weekly
