- Market design and regulation of electricity gas and H2 markets along the value chain
- Energy transition strategies climate policy carbon markets and decarbonisation pathways
- Industrial decarbonisation and industrial competitiveness
- Valuation of energy assets and investment decisions for utilities infrastructure funds and industrials
- Market modelling and financial modelling
- Competition and State aid investigations
- Regulatory and commercial disputes including arbitration and litigation support

Our company is global and our team main focus is on Europe Africa and the Middle East with projects in over 25 countries in the past year.

About the Role
We are looking for anInternto join our London team in Winter/Spring 2026 for a period of up to 6 months. Interns typically join during or shortly after completing their Masters degree. Please indicate your availability and preferred duration in your cover letter.

This is an opportunity for candidates with a strong quantitative background to apply their skills to complex energy and carbon market modelling financial modelling regulatory analysis and strategic advisory in a leading global economic consultancy.
You will be based at Compass Lexecons London office and work closely with other consultants and experts located across our European offices.

Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Contribute to economic and financial analysis in the context of the energy transition towards low carbon technologies
    • Support the development and enhancement of our internal market and financial models (e.g. decarbonisation pathways asset valuation policy impact assessments contract pricing)
    • Conduct market research and policy analysis on electricity gas and carbon markets issues
    • Work in an international team on cross-office projects with colleagues across Europe gaining exposure to diverse regulatory environments and energy systems
    • Present insights to senior team members and support delivery to clients (drafting contribution to client presentations and expert evidence)

Skills and Profile Sought:

    • Currently undertaking or recently completed a Masters degree in Economics Finance Engineering Statistics or a related field
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Financial modelling and quantitative skills; hands-on experience with financial models (e.g. asset valuation project finance transaction support) is a plus
    • Proficiency in MS applications including Outlook Excel and Word; experience with programming tools such as Python or R is a plus
    • Fluency in English is required other languages are a plus
    • French and/or German-speaking skills are highly appreciated
    • German-speaking skills are highly appreciated
    • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
    • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
    • Previous internship experience in the energy sector is desirable.
