A large and inclusive secondary school in Plymouth rated Good by Ofsted is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SENCO to join their leadership team from January 2026. This is a full-time permanent role offering the opportunity to shape the schools SEND strategy and ensure every student has the chance to thrive.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for leading and coordinating all aspects of SEND across the school ensuring early identification and targeted support. They will work closely with classroom teachers support staff and external professionals to embed inclusive practice and monitor student progress.
Lead and manage the schools SEND provision including identification assessment and intervention.
Develop and implement effective support strategies for students with a range of needs.
Coordinate staff training and promote inclusive classroom teaching.
Liaise with families health professionals and external agencies.
Monitor student progress and provide regular updates to the Senior Leadership Team and governors.
Support a team of Learning Support Assistants to deliver effective intervention programmes.
This is a warm community-oriented school where inclusion and pastoral care are central to its ethos. The Inclusion Hub provides academic emotional and social support for students including those with complex needs. Staff enjoy a supportive environment and are encouraged to engage in ongoing training and professional growth.
QTS and a recognised SENCO qualification (or willingness to complete).
Proven experience supporting or leading SEND provision.
Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
