Job Summary

Do you love working with dogs and helping families build stronger bonds with their pets Are you passionate about behavior obedience and making a difference in your community Off Leash K9 Training is hiring a Travel Dog Trainer in the Richmond VA area to work directly with clients and their pups in the comfort of their own homes.

Position Overview

As a Travel Dog Trainer youll visit clients homes to deliver private 1-on-1 training sessions tailored to their dogs individual needs. Youll help dogs of all breeds and sizes become better-behaved companions and empower owners to confidently continue training on their own. Every day is different and every dog is a new opportunity to make a difference.

What Were Looking For

Must live in or near Richmond VA
Experience with dogs (personal or professional)
Strong communication and customer service skills
Reliable transportation (youll be traveling to clients homes)
Must own an iPhone (used for scheduling and client communication)
Organized motivated and able to work independently
Comfortable handling dogs with behavioral issues (ex: reactivity anxiety)
Must be available evenings and weekends for client sessions
Must pass a background check

Training & Certification (Mandatory)

All new trainers must complete our 21-day in-person Trainer Academy at our Fredericksburg facility including weekends. This immersive program is designed to fully prepare you to work confidently and professionally using Off Leash K9s trusted techniques and training systems. Youll learn directly from our experienced training team through structured lessons hands-on experience with dogs and real-world practice.

This is not a self-paced or virtual courseits an intensive in-person training that ensures you leave ready to work with both dogs and their owners immediately.

Schedule Details

Lessons are 1 hour long and conducted in the clients home
Youll manage your own schedule and client communication
Must be available during peak training times (especially evenings & weekends)
