Get to Know the Role
This role sits within Grabs Analytics organisation on the Finance Data team. The trainee will work on the Finance Data Warehouse (FDW) which powers company-wide financial metrics and reporting.
Youll gain hands-on experience building reliable data models and pipelines supporting a migration project using dbt and Spark and collaborating with Finance and Analytics stakeholders to deliver trusted production-ready data.
This is a 6 months full-time onsite role based in Singapore as part of the GRIT Programme.
The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
The trainee will be involved in the following areas:
- Contributing to the migration of existing data pipelines and models to dbt and Spark within the FDW.
- Writing and reviewing SQL to understand refactor and optimize data transformations.
- Performing data validation and reconciliation of key financial metrics.
- Improving code quality (tests refactoring documentation).
- Assisting with workflow orchestration (e.g. Airflow DAG updates job monitoring alert handling)

What Essential Skills You Will Need
- Practical data warehousing concepts.
- Building modular ELT with dbt (models macros tests documentation) and Spark (performance considerations).
- SQL techniques for analytics engineering (CTEs window functions optimization).
- Data validation and observability practices (testing strategies lineage awareness monitoring & alerting).
- Workflow orchestration fundamentals with Airflow.
