Office Assistant 2
What you will be doing:
1. Regularly inventory unit stock and obtain equipment and supplies.
2. Copy forms and make packets of information and program manuals as assigned.
3. Operate 2-way radios pagers multi-line telephone and security monitors.
4. Activate access points devices throughout the hospital.
5. Monitor duress alarms. Activating alarm systems when necessary.

The selected candidate will work in an environment that is fast paced busy and challenging at times but embraces collaboration through working closely with supervisors managers and personnel to assist in providing services to Alaska Psychiatric Institute.
This position is located at 3700 Piper Street in the U-MED district of east Anchorage which offers several maintained walking trails parks and nearby lakes. This area is filled with several restaurants shopping stores and has easy access to public transportation.

We are looking for a candidate with the following competencies:
Skill in communicating effectively verbally and in writing on daily basis through interactions with a diverse cross-section of people organizations and a wide range of personalities.
Knowledge and experience in maintaining accurate and complete records.
Experience adhering to patients rights and regulations as they pertain to confidential information and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Experience working effectively with others to adapt to changing priorities and work on multiple projects with overlapping or conflicting schedules.
Experience with organizing and planning record-keeping and filing systems as well as the ability to search for and retrieve requested documents or information.
Skilled in reading comprehending and applying written and verbal materials instructions and/or procedures to specific situations.

Substitution:
Education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience (3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours equal one month of experience; 150 hours of vocation education equal one month of experience).
Special Note:
High school diploma equivalent means one of the following: 1) a G.E.D.; 2) completion of any basic adult education course equivalent to 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 course hours per week); 3) acceptance in full standing by an accredited college or university; 4) highest grade of school completed plus an amount of paid or volunteer experience that totals 12 years and includes basic clerical tasks such as greeting clients answering phones typing filing sorting mail entering data receiving payments making change or maintaining logs.
Some positions in this class may require the incumbent to operate motor vehicles. Such positions require that the applicant possess a regular drivers license and be 18 years of age or older.
