Job Summary

PCC Mason has an immediate opening for an experienced Chemical & Heat Treat Process Technician to join our Second Shift Team.

The usual schedule for this role will be from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM.

Training for this role will start initially on First Shift and then once the Training has been successfully completed the individual will be responsible for carrying out the regular duties during the designated Second Shift hours.

Duties for this role will primarily be assigned to Heat Treat & Chemical Processes but will also include other manufacturing processes & operational support as required.

This position will be responsible for operating monitoring & troubleshooting automated chemical & heat treat process equipment such as salt baths anodize line & heat treat furnaces. Candidates should be capable of working in a safe manner with proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) with hazardous materials such as acids molten salt etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work safely by adhering to relevant EH&S procedures & proper use of PPE.
  • Operate salt bath for cleaning of forged parts and transfer parts to heat treat processes.
  • Monitor chemical levels & specifications in highly automated equipment and replenish as necessary.
  • Neutralize chemical waste for safe disposal after consumption.
  • Maintain a clean and compliant chemical and wastewater area.
  • Schedule chemical waste disposal as necessary.
  • Maintain chemistry replace & replenish chemicals in part washers lubrication systems (Cetyl Coating) etc as per specified intervals.
  • Monitor furnace control charts inert gas and other atmospheric conditions for heat treatment processes.
  • Maintain furnace integrity according to specifications perform periodic burnouts and thermocouple changeovers.
  • Perform System Accuracy Test (SAT) on specified intervals and maintain records for audits.
  • Complete preventive maintenance routines for equipment assigned.
  • Assist with raw material receiving booking & shipment of finished products as necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Required Skills

  • Ability to multitask & keep multiple processes functional concurrently to specifications.
  • Familiarity with shop floor ERP systems to correctly interpret work orders.
  • Able to work overtime as needed.
  • Work in a team environment i.e. follow instructions and assist others as needed.

Experience & Education

  • High School Diploma or GED with experience or vocational/technical certification required.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of prior manufacturing experience
  • Experience working with chemical and/or heat treatment equipment & processes preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing for prolonged periods of time up to 8 hours or more per day.
  • Frequent lifting of objects up to 35 pounds.
  • Noise level is usually moderate.
  • Fast-paced environment subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle and/or adjust equipment.
  • Moderate reaching pushing pulling gripping and grasping.
  • Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to safety glasses hearing protection and steel toed work boots or shoes.
