Tenured or Tenured-Track Faculty in New Testament

Garrett Seminary seeks applicants for a tenured or tenure-track faculty position in New Testament studies. The position is open-rank. Candidates must hold a PhD or ThD in New Testament. This new colleague will join the Garrett faculty at the start of the 2026-2027 academic year.

We seek a teacher-scholar who shows promise or who has a demonstrated record of teaching research and publication in the field of New Testament studies with expertise in either Pauline epistles General/Catholic epistles and/or the Book of Revelation. The successful candidates research and teaching will demonstrate a keen commitment to at least one of the following theoretical and methodological fields: postcolonial feminist womanist and/or perspectives from the global south or global hermeneutics. Advanced training in the Greek language is expected as well as knowledge of contexts and literatures of the Graeco-Roman world.

The successful candidate will teach students across the curriculum including in the masters and doctoral programs in the seminarys Garrett Collective and in other curricular initiatives related to the seminarys strategic plan. They will be expected to teach in a variety of modalities including in-person hybrid and online. The candidate will also advise students in our PhD DMin and masters programs and make constructive and collaborative contributions to the institutional and community life of the Seminary. The position requires in-person teaching and mentoring of students. Thus the candidate must be willing to relocate to or within a reasonable commuting distance of the Evanston/Chicago IL area.
