Job Summary

A prestigious independent boarding and day school in Salisbury is seeking a dedicated inspiring and passionate Music Teacher to join its thriving and well-established Music Department from January 2026. About the Role
The successful candidate will teach Music across KS3KS5 nurturing students musical abilities through a balance of practical performance composition and theoretical understanding. You will play a central role in maintaining and developing the rich musical tradition of the school supporting both curricular and co-curricular activities that reflect its commitment to artistic excellence.

This role offers the chance to work with talented and motivated pupils within a well-resourced department that enjoys a strong reputation both within the school and the wider community. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan prepare and deliver engaging and imaginative Music lessons across KS3KS5.

  • Direct choirs orchestras bands or chamber ensembles fostering teamwork and confidence in young musicians.

  • Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Music examinations ensuring high academic outcomes.

  • Support school productions concerts and other public performances both locally and nationally.

  • Collaborate with visiting peripatetic teachers to coordinate instrumental lessons and performance opportunities.

  • Contribute to the creative life of the school through tours festivals competitions and outreach initiatives.

  • Maintain up-to-date subject knowledge and take an active role in departmental planning and development.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Degree in Music or a related field ideally combined with QTS/PGCE.

  • Commitment to contributing fully to the musical and cultural life of the school.

  • Excellent communication organisation and teamwork skills.
