3 Month Contract With A Local Authority
Job Purpose:
To carry out servicing inspections diagnostics repairs and maintenance of Council fleet vehicles including heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) and specialist vehicle bodies with particular focus on hydraulic and electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine servicing and safety inspections of fleet vehicles in accordance with DVSA and manufacturer standards.
Diagnose and repair mechanical hydraulic and electrical faults on a range of vehicles including HGVs light commercial vehicles and specialist plant/equipment.
Maintain accurate service and repair records for compliance and audit purposes.
Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and carry out pre-MOT inspections and rectifications.
Ensure all work is completed in a timely efficient and safe manner.
Use diagnostic tools and software for fault-finding and repairs.
Work within health and safety guidelines and ensure the workshop remains clean and safe.
Liaise with supervisors and fleet management to report issues progress and order parts as needed.
Participate in any relevant training and development opportunities.
Requirements
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Light or Heavy Motor Vehicle Engineering.
Proven experience in the maintenance and repair of HGVs and/or fleet vehicles.
Experience in diagnosing and repairing hydraulic and electrical systems.
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
Knowledge of DVSA standards and regulations.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good communication and record-keeping skills.
Full UK Driving Licence Minimum Category B.
Willingness to undertake further training if required.
Commitment to safe working practices.
Required Skills:
Previous experience as an estate cleaner General education qualification (desirable) UK driving licence
