ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Public Spaces Design team sits within Councils Environment and Planning Directorate and focuses on public space design within the Cumberland LGA along with supporting Councils strategic objectives by enhancing the life and vitality of the communities who call Cumberland home. The Public Spaces Design team consists of Landscape Architects and Urban Designers.

We have an exciting opportunity within our Public Spaces Design team for a dynamic experienced Landscape Architect who is dedicated to providing open space design and landscape architectural services to enhance Councils active and passive open spaces and deliver best practice in the development of effective creative and sustainable landscapes.

The successful applicant will require:

• Degree or diploma qualified in landscape architecture or equivalent and/or relevant industry experience in an allied field
• Demonstrated landscape architecture and open space design experience preferably with experience in a local government environment
• Ability to prepare landscape plans and detailed working drawings
• Demonstrated experience in providing landscape design documentation using design applications ideally AutoCAD/Vectorworks and Adobe CC
• Demonstrated experience in the preparation of specifications and project management
• Ability to assist in the preparation of reports and provide technical landscape and urban design advice in response to organisational needs
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated skills in the use of relevant technology that will assist the landscape planning and design function
• Excellent customer service skills and demonstrated experience in community consultation
• Current Class C drivers licence.

About this role:

• Permanent full-time position
• 70 hour fortnight
• Access to Councils 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO)
• Located at Councils Auburn office with occasional travel required across Council worksites and may be required to work across any of Councils work locations

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

• Grade 12 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1899.71 to $2184.67 per week plus 12% superannuation
• The commencing salary will be negotiated taking into consideration the successful applicants qualifications skills and experience related to the role

What youll need to have for this role:

• The right to live and work in Australia
• Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
• Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Councils Health Monitoring Procedure as required
• Provide evidence of your vaccination status as part of the employment screening process in accordance with Councils COVID-19 Vaccination Procedure.
